Now that you have had your Project company/idea approved by your professor, it is time to write the second part of the project, which builds on Project Part 1. Using the same company your chose for Project Part I (the company that is proposing an expansion opportunity overseas), conduct research on the proposed "overseas" country.

Specifically focus on the culture and cultural exchange of the country.

For the culture, review the web site http://geert-hofstede.com/ or similar resources to compare the cultural differences between the US and the company in your project. Identify the cultural differences and consider the cultural exchange.

In addition, research and choose the best distributions method: Product/Market, Pricing, and Positioning.

Different countries have different cultural practices. I don't matter how close or far the
two counties are. The fact remains that people of strange/different origin have different social
beliefs which directly impact their culture. Therefore, a company from one country must conduct
an exclusive research before venturing into another country’s market. When Starbucks wants to
cooperate with the Chinese market, its directors and foreign strategic researchers must have full
knowledge of the cultural differences between the US market and Chinese people. Cultural
issues are primary factors that determine any company’s failure or success. Cultural variations
can pose imperative impacts on Starbucks operations in China. In this analysis, we will focus on
the service of US owned Starbucks Company on the Chinese market and even go deeper past the
cultural differences and exchange boundary.
Cultural Differences and Exchange
Hofstede’s cultural dimensions are a fundamental system to analyze the variations of the
U.S and Chinese culture. It is the most referred theories which are currently employed by many
scholars while trying to compare the national cultural differences. Hofstede designed a series of
