Given 

-2m + 5n - 3 + m - 14n

it can be written as,

-2 *m + 5*n - 3 + m - 14*n

common terms is to be added or subtracted based on the logical between them

(-2*m + m) + (5*n -14*n) - 3

- m + (-9*n) - 3     ( therefore the highest value is having a negative sign after calculating we get the highest value sign to the result i.e. 5n - 14n = -9n , -2m + m = - m)

- m - 9*n -3      ( + * -  =  -  , i.e. + ( -9n) = -9n))

hence the simplified result is given as,

-m - 9*n - 3
