The perimeter of a rectangular garden measures 64 feet. If thelength is 4 feet lessthan twice its width, what arethe dimensions of the garden?

perimeter = 64  feets

let the width be x so length = 2x-4  so perimeter = 2 * (l+b) = 2 * (x+2x-4) = 2x+4x-8 = 6x - 8

so 6x-8 = 64

or 6x = 64 + 8 = 72

or x = 72/6 = 12

so width = 12 feet and length = 2x - 4 = 2* 12 - 4 = 20 feets (ans)
