Question description

By now you have the knowledge of how to evaluate the equity of the company, analyze the market economy’s behavior, and predict a company’s future behavior through forecasting. Based on this knowledge, you will identify and describe business opportunities that the company should pursue and explain the benefits/costs of these decisions.

Prompt: In this section, discuss the incremental impact of a hypothetical, but reasonable, simple new investment project, such as a new product or facility or a cost-cutting investment, as an initial step in thinking about the future. Be sure to address the following:

A. Based on your knowledge of this organization, what is a likely investment it would consider and why? Be sure to describe the basic features of the investment as a foundation for considering its potential financial impact. B. Evaluate the approximate costs and benefits of the investment you identified, explaining how these would affect your spreadsheet projections and business decisions. Estimates are sufficient, but should be grounded in common sense and insight into the organization. C. How does the potential investment affect budgeting and related business decisions? For example, does the investment involve significant cash spending this coming year, followed by benefits in the following year? How might that affect short-term and long-term spending priorities? Does the benefit outweigh the cost?

Guidelines for Submission: Your Business Opportunities report should be approximately 8-10 pages long (excluding title page, spreadsheets and graphs, and references list). It should be double spaced, with 12-point Times New Roman font and one-inch margins, and should use the latest guidelines for APA formatting for references and citations. Please also include your name, course name, and submission date on the title page.

Cost-Cutting Investment: PepsiCo
PepsiCo Inc is an American multinational company that has taken the market by storm regarding
beverages, food, and other products. The company has grown and made excellent strides due to its ability
to anticipate the future. It has designed products from time to time that meet the customer expectations
hence leading to increased revenue. However, this success has been because of better decisions,
investment opportunities, and innovative ideas.

Part A. Proposed investments for PepsiCo
Due to the changing market demand and consumer preference, PepsiCo should consider
investing a high percentage of its portfolio on the development of new healthy products and
increasing the market share of the healthy products already existing. Hence, this will affect both
its beverages and snacks product lines.
According to research, more people prefer taking healthy snacks to other snacks. Healthy
products can be essential for long-term growth since the company is looking for ways to make its
products much healthier. According to Euromonitor, the global sales of healthy products was
deemed to reach $1 trillion by the end of 2017 (Euromonitor International, 2012).
More consumers are shifting to healthy products due to several reasons. To begin with,
we have lifestyle changes. Consumers have started learning that improper dieting is a significant
cause of obesity hence more people are opting to incorporate new healthy habits by including
healthy carbohydrates and fats. Ultimately, this is an opportunity that PepsiCo can take
advantage of and generate a lot of revenue since by changing which consumer preference and
taste can be an added advantage.
Consumers now take a holistic perspective when considering products. Historically,
considerations on nutritional content was never a concern. Accordingly, this is because
consumers focused on single elements such as protein or sugar. However, recent data suggests

that consumer preferences have changed. Diets that focus on individual aspects regarding
nutritional content will be scarce within five years (Deloitte, 2016). Today, consumers tend to
consider health and wellness attributes. Grocery shopper trends suggest that many customers
look for different data points such as nutritional content information and product claims related
to fitness and wellness before pur...
