Cultures that idealize peer pressure, thinness, and the constant imaging of perfection of
the body that frequents the mass media, along with the additional psychological and
physiological factors, create a perfect storm combination for adolescents that are struggling with
the eating disorder. While the adolescent girls demonstrate some ability to perform a critical
analysis of the obvious forms of weight-loss advertisements that are somewhat deceptive, most
girls do not acknowledge how the advertisement evokes responses that are emotional or how the
