Students should be more careful about what they post on social media.

Introduction

When it was initially launched, the social media was a fun place that allowed people to
share their thoughts, ideas, photos, jokes, frustrations, as well as milestones. At the time, there
was a commonly held belief that whatever you posted on social media could only be viewed by
friends, family, as well as selected contacts. However, this has changed in modern society as
social media has taken over all aspects of our personal as well as professional life. While social
media has become an integral part of our lives, the content you post on social media can come to
haunt you later since nothing is private on social media anymore.

While these negative

repercussions of social media affect all members of the society, students are at higher risk since
most of us use the internet to communicate. I personally prefer to communicate with my friends
on social media compared to over the phone, and the same case applies to my friends which I
know also applies to most of you (Deng & Tavares, 2013). Consequently, I want to inform all of
you why you should take precautions on what you post on social media since some of these
materials posted online can come to haunt you later.
