What are some red flags that would indicate client resistance? How can you most effectively deal with resistance? Resistance is primarily the client’s expression of fear in relation to exploring unconscious
materials. One could recognize a client who is resistance through factors such as the delay to
receive help. For example, the client might give reasons such as the therapeutic process being too
expensive and or taking too long. Another indicator of resistance is failure to bring up issues that
the client needs to talk about. The client might also be reluctant to talk about their feelings.
Ultimately, failure to pay the therapist is the commonest sign of client resistance. By failing to
pay, the client is attempting to evade the therapy session for the fear of unveiling scary or
