JDA software is a company that has it’s headquarter located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The company operates in the supply chain management industry which was founded in 1985
by James Donald Armstrong and Frederick M.Pakis.JDA Software Company has more than
4000 customers as companies located in various parts of the world. These customers are now
more environmentally conscious. The business opportunity of JDA software includes
becoming a truly paperless company by reducing the use of paper as much as possible. Thus,
facilities team were tasked with the responsibility of looking at some areas where there could
be a significant decrease in waste production. The team found that the number of disposable
cups used daily were large in numbers. However, these disposable cups cannot be
recycled.They also found that their use can be reduced by substituting disposable cups with
reusable cups.
The manager of the company wanted to reduce the use of the paper cups and
substitute it with reusable cups. In order to test the claim, the company began to collect data
on the number of paper cups being used daily in one of the offices located in the United
