How long will it take a jet plane, flying at 450 mph, to overtake a propeller plane, flying at 180 mph, if the propeller plane had a 2x1/2 hour head start?

Distance covered by propeller Jet before Jet plane took off = 180 mph x 2.5 hrs = 450 miles.

Relative speed = (450 -180) mile = 270 miles, because they are travelling in the same direction.

Time taken by the jet plane to overtake a propeller plane = Distance / Relative Speed.

So it  is 450/270 = 1 2/3 hours.

Hope this helps! You can as any question if you are not satisfied.
