There is an increasing concern in the United States to decrease health disparities,
especially to the minority groups. Diabetes is a major concern affecting most African American
community recording higher mortality rate compared to the whites (Purcell & Cutchen, 2013).
These minority groups are highly affected by diabetes causing a major health disparity. There
have been efforts to intervene with various interventions and strategies launched in the
community. Most studies conducted are purposely for educating the community in the goal of
