Finding a geometric sequence

Use the geometric mean to find the 7th term in a geometric sequence if the 6th term is 6 and the 8th term is 216.

In a geometric sequence, the ratio between two terms is called r.
So x2/x1=r, x5/x4=r, etc.

Then x7/x6= x8/x7, which means x7 is the geometric mean for x6 and x8
X7/6= 216/x7. Now cross multiply

(X7)^2 = 6(216)

(x7)^2 = 1296

X7= sqr(1296) = 36
