Ethics and Issues Arising from Internet-Based Psychotherapy
Technological advancements, especially with the roll-out of the internet, have foreseen
great trends in diverse career fields. With relation to this paper, the internet is slowly taking over
the most widely used form of therapy, face-to-face therapy, in psychotherapy. This has brought
forward divergent views on the matter creating two warring factions, proponents, and opponents.
Nonetheless, these expressions are founded from their varying opinions. Regardless, internetbased psychotherapy has come of age and is being widely practiced. However, due to the
complexity of this form of therapy, there was a need to formulate ethical guidelines. In this light,
this paper hopes to discuss ethics and issues hovering around this psychotherapeutic intervention.
