Team 4 Collaborative Group Research Overview Team Members: Laceena Brown, Amber Hecht, Tanesha Lockett, John Strader Project Topic: The Paradigm Shift of Business Transformation with the drastic change of technology, new business models emerging vice conventional business practices. One example was Netflix replacing Blockbuster. Amazon, Uber and Airbnb challenging traditional transportation and travel brands. Technology trends have changed the shape of business models, the ever-evolving behaviors and expectations from consumers are also impacting organizations’ current practices. Source that inspired research and topic: Reason for Selection: Team 4 decided to pick a modern topic for the ever changing business models that have changed. There are more online shoppers causing retailers to close stores to improve internet websites and support the web ecommerce. How technology has changed behaviors with consumers and retailers. Potential Research Sources: Research companies that have shifted their entire business model. Companies such as: Under Armour, Netflix, Boeing, Toyota, GM and Amazon. Look at the business model and how organizations reevalute their business models. Consumers are more cost conscious and car manufacturers reacted to this with hybrid and electric vehicles. The fall of AOL, circuit city, K-mart, yahoo and mobile businesses on the rise. How CEOs are embracing transformation. Business leaders are transforming traditional business models. Some leaders make incremental changes while other companies are boldy transforming. Aligning key business leaders with compelling vision and how successful business managers are to successfully motivate the employees to adapt and advocate for change. Evaluate consumer behaviors in relation to technology trends. Going wireless vice cords in headphones is one example of a modernization. Executive leaders that are succeeding in initiatives for marketing, technology and creating digital experiences and emphasizing consumer needs and delivering engaging solutions across all customer touch points. Tasking: Each member in group 4 will pick one modern company to research to look at innovation, business models, and executive changes made to succeed. History and Overview of Amazon
Amazon is a 500 e-commerce and cloud computing company based in Seattle, Washington.
Jeff Bezos, a computer science and electrical engineering graduate from Princeton University,
founded the Company in 1995 (Krishnamurthy, 2001). The foundation of the company can be
traced back to 1994 where Jeff Bezos was working as the Vice-President of a Wall Street firm. He
came across the statistics that the internet was growing at a rate of 2300%, which convinced him
as a potential opportunity based on the significant advancement of technology. Without much
knowledge of the internet, Bezos plunged into the world of e-commerce by developing the website
in 1994 and launching it to the public in 1995 (Segar, 2015). started as a distributor
of computer discs, computer hardware, software, videos, and books.
Amazon Innovations
The sole responsibility of Amazon Company is to make bold bets. The impressively unique
innovations delivered by the company are largely attributed to the demands of the customers.
Amazon’s main innovations comprise of prime, marketplace, Amazon web services, technology
at work, Prime Now, kindle, Prime Air, Amazon Launchpad and customer reviews. Moreover, the
innovations also include AmazonFresh, frustration-free packaging, fulfillment by Amazon,
Amazon Wind and Solar Farms, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fulfillment Network, Amazon Pantry,
Fire Tablets and the Mayday Button.
Business Models and Executive Changes for Amazon
Initially, Amazon focused on the sale and distribution of computer discs, computer
hardware, software, videos, and books. Over the years, however, the company has exerted various
