The copycat theory explains  on  something  that is publicized in the media that creates a lot of attention, resulting in other people to imitate to gain the same level of attention. The well known example of this is copycat murders, suicides and other violent acts that come with no other motive other than attention, caused by seeing the same acts in the media, be it film, television or books.

HISTORY

Copycat  theory started back then in the times after publications of various   media materials such as novels and articles  , imitation mimic and attention started among the readers of those particular novels and books

Suicide arose from Goethe's novels soon after its publication in 1974  and various other media materials that were linked to death and bad behavior.
