Alexis is helping decorate for the school dance. Her task is to cut out 100 green circles that have a radius of 5 inches. When these are hung up on the wall how much space will one circle take up?

NB: The space covered by one circle is equivalent to its area.

Area of circle = pi x r x r

pi = 3.142

r = 5 inches

Area = (3.142 x 5 x 5) squares inches

Area = 78.55 squared inches.

Hope this helps. Ask any question if you are not comfortable.
