objects—will be covered in detail. Mehdi Mokhtari's book The Puzzle of Nonverbal
Communication: Towards a New Aspect of Leadership is the starting point for discussing
emotions, nonverbal communication, and leadership. Military proficiency includes being
organized and in control of soldiers. I attended three sessions for non-commissioned officers'
counseling (NCOs). To discuss upkeep and supply with enlisted Marines, I called a meeting of
officers and staff non-commissioned officers (SNCOs). They talked about the equipment's
effectiveness, maintenance-delayed equipment, and how to get it up and to run because the
Commanding Officer receives intelligence briefings on what equipment is down that affects his
or her powers. I observed that the Marine was more anxious to listen to his superior during the
first counseling session based on how the NCO conducted himself. He arrived early and awaited
the arrival of the troops.
The Soldier had a straight back and appeared assured as he listened. Along with pricey
boots and tidy headgear, the NCO uniform was carefully pressed and kept spotless. The Marine
was reading counseling to him while facing him and carrying two copies of the counseling as
well as a notepad with a pen. In order to show the Marine that he was prepared and had taken the
time and effort to conduct this counseling session professionally, the NCO used only objects,
which is an obvious example of non-verbal communication on his part. They made sure to look
each other in the eyes and frequently nodded in agreement, showing that the discussion flowed
smoothly and that the NCO was pleased with the Marines' performance. They were in a meeting
space. The Marine entered the room and saw the NCO waiting, so he knew he had been assigned
to the NCO for this therapy session. The setting was designed in a way that the Marine felt
comfortable and at ease, as opposed to being at a desk or table, which would have created a

barrier between them.
