Doctor orders depo-medrol 60mg IM. On hand: 80mg Depo-medrol. How many ml's will you give? I'm having a hard time converting mg to mls. I tried the problem and got 0.75 after dividing 60 into 80.

Thanks!

if 60mg are contained in 1ml then

(80mgx1ml)/60mg

=1.33ml

this means 1.33ml contains 80mg of depo-medrol

any other question

May 18th, 2015

Nope, that actually makes a lot of sense seeing it written out that way, I just divided the two numbers.

How exactly do you convert ml to mgs? and vice versa?

May 18th, 2015

you do not convert mgs to mls.

we just use ratio to determine the conversion

May 18th, 2015

Oh okay I thought there was a certain formula! Thanks for your help

May 18th, 2015

60mg per 1ml is what will determine conversion

May 18th, 2015

can i create my formular which u can easly understand ?

So like my next question on another problem, a patient is to recieve 38mg, and the vial only holds 5ml, how many mls of solution should the doctor administer? would it be 7.6 ML then if I divide 38 by 5?

May 18th, 2015

Yes thank you that was easy to understand

May 18th, 2015

first we will have to get the conversion ratio

May 18th, 2015
