##### Repeated Measures T-Test Problem

Statistics Tutor: None Selected Time limit: 1 Day

1.) 5 students were given an English test before and after receiving instruction on basic grammar. Their scores are as follows:

Student   Before  After

a  20  20

b  14  22

c  13  18

d  14  17

e  12  16

a) Calculate and appropriate t-test using those data. Based on your results, is it reasonable top conclude that future students would show higher scores after instruction? Why /why not?

b) Calculate the effect size as well as the confidence interval for the results in part a). What do these mean?

Ho; d=0

Ha: d>0

alpha=.05

test stat:t =3.06

p-value=.02

reject Ho since p-value < .05

Conclusion: Future students would show higher scores after instruction.

95%CI=(.38,7.62)

I am confused on your confidence intervals. Would the Tcrit of be equivalent to 2.132 and not 2.776 like you have derived. This is a one tailed test correct? I got for the CI@95% (1.223, 6.777)

Yes, this is a one tailed test, but confidence interval is not one-tailed.
