TRUSS ANALYSIS SPREADSHEET
Program Description:

Hello, this is an interactive MS-Excel spreadsheet for analyzing a 2-Dimensional truss elements.
Kindly read the program description below and click the welcome button

to go to the Truss Analysis worksheet

The truss resides in the x-y plane and consists of a number of nodes and members. Each note is a point with all itsmembers straight.
The number of nodes and members is determined by the user at the input section (Highlighted in yellow).
Kindly note:
All nodes MUST be connected to the truss structure.
All members MUST have a node at each end
Inputs are:
Node Co-ordinates, in x-y plane
Connection of Members (Note: Members end points are defined by two nodes)
Node Loads, Fx and Fy, (forces in x and y,)

Kindly note that the calculated results at the member ends may not necessarily be the maximum values for that particular memb
Calculated Results:
Support Reactions (x and y forces)

Member end forces (Kindly note that the calculated results at the member ends may not necessarily be the maximum values for
All values and intermediate calculations steps are available.
This analysis tool is a spreadsheet consisting of three (3) worksheets, as described below:

Report

1. This design spreadsheet uses the method of joint truss analysis and with the following analysis assumption:
a. Members are homogeneous and isotropic for their entire length
2. A horizontal load, vertical load, and external moment may be applied to any of the nodes of the structure.
Procedure Used by the Truss Analysis Spreadsheet:
1. User inputs node geometry , member connectivity , load, and contraints data.
2. Spreadsheet plots the truss elements and nodes
3. Spreadsheet calculates and plots elements displacement

4. Spreadsheet calculates and plo...
