14A spring scale is constructed so that each 1.0-kg increment is separated by 1.0 cm. What spring constant is necessary for the scale to be accurate?

15. You push against a steamer trunk with a force of 750 N at an angle of 25° with the horizontal . The trunk is on a flat floor and the coefficient of static friction between the trunk and floor is 0.77. What is the most massive trunk you will be able to move?

14.k = 0.10/0.50 N/cm = 0.20 N/cm.

15.F = \mu _{s}N\] u is the coeff. of friction N is the normal force Take the force vector you are given and calculate the component that acts horizontally. That is your F. Then understand that N is just going to be equal to the weight of the trunk. You know weight is defined as m*g. 'g' is known, so you can solve for 'm'.

these are the answer choices for 14  please do not guess i need these questions answered correctly :)

a. 0.10 N/cm

b. 1.0 N/cm

c. 9.8 N/cm

d. 0.33 N/cm

F = \mu _{s}N\]
750=m*g
750/10
m=75kgs
