In a survey, 128 of 201 college students had attended a sporting event that year. If there are 9546 students at the college and the survey had a margin of error of +/- 5%, what is the range of the number of students who attended a sporting event that year?

Hello! :)

First, you need to find the proportion of the total students who would have attended a sporting event that year, by setting up a proportion using the 128/201 college students:

128/201 = x / 9546

x = 6079

Now find 5% of that value, add and subtract the 5% to find the range:

6079 +/- (0.05*6079)

6079 +/- 304

Range = 5775 to 6383 college students attended a sporting event that year
