Enhanced surveillance and Tracking Systems

The rapid advancement in technology has been experienced in almost all sectors
including surveillance. Technology has made it easier to track and monitor an individual
regardless of their physical location. It involves the use of advanced global positioning systems
that implement sophisticated algorithms to determine the location of a person through tracking of
their digital activities and devices such as mobile phones. The tracking technology has been
deployed in multiple locations especially in major cities through the installation of the
surveillance camera to monitor people's activities as they go about their day to day lives. The
data collected through these surveillance devices are analyzed by experts to identify individuals
and monitor their movements (Dees, 2011). Surveillance can also be conducted by listening to
phone calls, emails and text messages.

Some of the significant areas that have benefited from surveillance technology include
the traffic department, the police department, and the military. It has proved to be very successful
in all areas it has been implemented. Banks and retail stores have also integrated surveillance
technology to monitor their customer's activities while at the premises. The technology is also
used by individual homeowners to monitor their property when on holiday or babies through the
nanny cameras. Governments rely on surveillance to collect information about their citizens'
activities and therefore understand the best measure to take especially in combating criminal
activities. It is important to note that security agencies today heavily rely on modern-day
technology-based surveillance compared to the traditional physical monitoring. More and more
countries are opting for enhanced surveillance techniques to conduct military operations in
enemy areas without the risk of physical presence.

Radio Frequency Identification Systems

The radio frequency identification technology can be described as tools that use
technology to read and identify information contained in tags before updating it in a computer
database. The technology can be said to be similar to the traditional barcode but with bigger
storage size and increased efficiency. The ...
