Water waves on a lake travels 4.4 meters in 1.8 seconds. The period of their oscillation is 1.2 seconds. Determine a) what is the speed of the water waves? b) the wavelength of each wave?

So first to determine the speed of the wanes we simply divide the distance traveled by the amount of time it took to travel that distance, which is 4.4/1.8 = about 2.444 m/s. Now just remember the formula for wavelength, which is v = fw. The frequency is 1/1.2 = 0.833. So 2.444 = 0.833w, Thus w = 2.93 m
