Standard of Care
The standard of care is a complex concept that not all the physicians understand entirely.
Even emergency practitioners, who are in the battlefront of the healthcare, recognize all the
implications that the standard of care takes into account. Possibly this is the reason why most of
the malpractice suits involve emergency cases. The measure of care implies not only the usual
things that any physician can do, but also all the other things that can affect the patient´s health
and are affordable, reliable, and doable. It does not mean perfection, only to do all that can do to
