Mercury is the element with the atomic number 80 and symbol Hg. It is a good conductor of electricity. Mercury is the only metallic element that is liquid at standard conditions of pressure and temperature. It is highly poisonous and occurs in deposits in the world mostly as mercuric sulfide. It is commonly used in barometers, thermometers, fluorescent lamp, and manometers.
