Part one- must be 400 + words, NO PLAIGRISM PLEASE

An area of concern in healthcare today is the ability of individuals to access care. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has developed many initiatives that tie reimbursement for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries to better quality of care and access to it.

You have been asked by the Community Relations Committee of Healing Hands Hospital to evaluate how the hospital can improve access to healthcare resources by members of the community and create strategies to improve access to care within your geographic region.

  • Discuss the barriers that patients experience when accessing health care resources.
  • Why do barriers continue to exist when it comes to access and equal health care?
  • What one measure could Healing Hands Hospital take to improve access to care for its community?

Include 3 reference sources, besides the textbook, and be sure to document your references using APA format.

Part Two- must be 3 pages not including the title or reference pages, NO PLAIGIRISMS PLEASE

Managed care has had a profound impact on the way that health care is delivered and paid for in the United States. A large portion of Healing Hands Hospital's revenue comes from managed care reimbursement making managed care a very important part of the business process. Part of the Task Force’s work will include obtaining feedback from the community and a public relations committee has been formed to help educate the community when decisions are made about changes to Healing Hands Hospital. Mr. Johnson, Healing Hands Chief Financial Officer, has asked you to help provide some training to the members of the public relations committee to help them understand managed care and other possible models for reimbursement including value-based reimbursement and Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), so this can be included in their campaign of community education. Your report to Mr. Johnson should include:

  • Identify three types of managed care plans, such as Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO) and how they impact the way that health care is delivered at Healing Hands Hospital.
  • Discuss the future of managed care as a viable reimbursement model for Healing Hands Hospital compared to Accountable Care Organization model and valued based reimbursement.
  • Through legislation such as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and MACRA, there are regulations and requirements set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that are designed to improve patient quality of care and ensure highest levels of reimbursement. How do these laws impact Healing Hands Hospital and its financial plans?

Mr. Johnson, like all healthcare management professionals, believes that the data and information presented must be backed by good research and the reference sources must be listed appropriately in the written report.
Be sure to include at least three references for the information presented in your report using APA formatting.

Access to healthcare refers to “the timely use of service according to need” (Peters et al,
2008). Access to healthcare is hindered by a number of barriers, for instance, accommodation;
patients may become involved in their work or even in other personal commitments and as a
result fail to get to the office of the doctor in time due to, also, being busy may reduce
availability of the patients thus lead to failure to get an appointment in time, patients may also
take a long time to reach to health facilities due to difficulty in accessibility of the hospital. The
hospital itself, by not accepting health insurance, create an acceptability barrier. Availability and
accommodation barriers are experienced more by women in comparison to men, this is due to the
tendency of women to be more involved in work activities and commitments then men (Luo &
Wang, 2003).
Many people tend to equate access with affordability to health care, in reality, there are
several reasons why people are unable to get the care they require when needed. The existence of

treatment. When addressing these barriers, priority should be given to nonfinancial barriers since
they affect patients’ access to healthcare resources more in comparison to financial barriers
(Gulliford et al, 2002).
In order to achieve health equity among Americans, it is important to ensure access to
quality and comprehensive health care resources. Healing Hands Hospital may consider offering
weekend and evening outpatient services for their patients, this would accommodate the patients
who are quite involved in their work by making it easy for them to get timely appointments in
the hospital that at the same time allow them to ...
