a ball is thrown upward with an initial velocity of 32 ft/s from a height 768 ft.

h= 016t^2+32t+768

after how many seconds will the ball reach the ground?

I.e. for what positive value of t is h=0?

a ball is thrown upward with an initial velocity of 32 ft/s from a height 768 ft.

h= 016t^2+32t+768

h(t)= -16t^2+32+768=0

t^2-2t-48=0

t^2-8t+6t-48=0

t(t-8) +6(t-8)=0

(t+6)(t-8)=0

t+6=0 0r t-8=0

t=-6 or t=8

the positive value is 8
