The smith family bought 25 raffle tickets for a drawing sponsored by the boys' club. If 1000 tickets were sold, which fraction represents the smiths' chance of winning?

May 21st, 2015

Since the family bought 25 tickets and the total tickets sold was 1000, you divide 25 by 1000. So 25/1000 = 1/40  chance of winning. Hope this helps

Got another one for you.. I think i got the answer just want to be right... A bicycle club began a tour at the local city hall and bicycled 6 miles north, 8 miles west, 7 miles south, and 8 miles east. In what direction must they now travel to return to city hall? one of the options says None, They are already at city hall which is what i think it is... The other options are North, South, West or Northeast.

Its very close to the city hall, but notice how the east and west directions cancel each other out but the south has one more mile traveled than the north, so they would go North to return

Hey was wondering if you can help with a question?

I wouldnt want you to get in trouble but promise this is the last question. I dont get it because it doesnt give enough information in the formula or its probably that i dont know how to plug it in to the formula.

Here it goes:

The diameter of a circular reservoir is 840 feet. To walk around the reservoir, you would walk approximately how far?

This is the formula they gave me (3.14=22/7)

May 22nd, 2015

Ok it looks like you didn't get my instant message so I will just put the work here. So the formula that they gave you is just an approximation of pi (3.14). The formula for calculating the perimeter of a circle is 2(pi)r. Since the diameter is 2r we can just multiply 840 by pi to get the answer. So 840 x 3.14 = 2637.6 feet. Hope this helps
