Objectives The objectives of the scientific writing lab are for students to: • • • • learn the major steps of a Process Flow Charting time study gain an in-depth understanding of scientific writing (concise and specific) gain experience writing reports o understand the content expected for each section of the report o use appropriate language – formal, technical, objective, inclusive develop skills in word processing software functionality to prepare a professional electronic document Assignment You will be asked to submit a fully written laboratory report based on the in-lab exercise for the cookie baking process. You are to write this report from the perspective that you completed the study yourself. There should be no references to a researcher/observer/husband/wife! Your assignment is to be written individually, no group work. Check your submission for: • • • • Acceptable file format (MS Word, Open Office, other word processing software available on campus computer labs) NOT .pdf Conformance to the lab report template Use of word processing software automatic figure/table labeling and cross-referencing functions At least one table and one figure (HINT: there should be more than one given the number of pages of charts and diagrams in the case study).
