Question description

1. Gilgamesh’s story was clearly thought to be something worth preserving by the people of the ancient Near East … something that should be passed along to future generations. Taking into account the epic as a whole, what is it about Gilgamesh that makes it a tale worth telling? Explain and support your response. Keep in mind the perspective of the ancient people that first told this story.

2. Last week you were asked to consider if Gilgamesh and Enkidu are courageous and/or virtuous in the first half of the poem. Now, taking into account the events and actions in the second half of the poem, is there reason to offer a different answer to the question of whether they possess courage and/or virtue? Explain.

Word count for all should be no less than 200 and not more than 300.
