Describe how the work of Charles Lyell impacted the development of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. Please include the major work done by Lyell and what it led Darwin to consider.

Charles Lylell, work heavily ifluenced Charles Darwin. In fact Drawin,s concept of gradual evolution lake an acceptable time frame until the embraced Lyell,s old earth theories.

Charles Lylell and Charles Darwin shared a support for uniformitarianism. This conflicted with the then-prevailing theory of catastrophism, in Catastrophism is the belief that the universe and the earth, experienced major changes only as a result of major, rapid, catastrophic events.

Uniformitarian theory became more popular as Darwin,s theory of evolution through natural selection became popular. Like Darwin,s theory, the work of Charles Lylell,s provided logical rational explanations that suited the beliefs of many scientists. Over time those explanations considered proofs and the scientific community at large concepts Lyell,s explanation for rock layers and other geological effects with little explanation.
