improving the performance. Logistics and supply chain management plays an integral part for
organizations to obtain a competitive market edge. Logistics refers to the management of the
products flow from production to consumptions; thus, meeting the customer’s requirements.
Tools Applicable Internally
Some of the internal tools used in both supply chain and logistics include quality
machines, transportation, order processing tools and inventory management tools. Quality
machines are crucial in supply chain process since they make sure that errors and defects are
eliminated (Li, 2014). These tools are used for mistake proofing, and thus, making sure that the
company supply chain is effective from production to consumption without delays or defects.
Transportation plays an integral part in logistics and supply chain because it makes sure that the
customers receive their commodities on time. Besides, order-processing tools are vital since the
tools help the company in comprehending what is happening when a company receives
deliveries of the supply chain goods at the organization door. Order processing tools help an
organization track its order cycle times leading to effective operations of the entire supply chain.
Inventory management tools are helps the company to determine the number of orders requires
in an organization, hence, cutting down on inventory costs and warehousing space (Christopher,
2016). Inventory management helps an organization to maintain quality by making sure that
customer’s products are delivered to the market on time with their freshness preserved.

Warehouse management system is tools used by organizations to help in managing what
goes on quotidian business operations in a warehouse, which is handling inventory. Vendors use
warehouse management systems to aid with warehouse management, which includes
performance tools for analyzing and assessing the condition of the inventory materials. Bid and
spend tools are used by companies to help the business in assessing bids from numerous
providers; thus, spotting opportunities for improvement or efficiency. Additionally, contract
relationship system is employed by organizations to help an enterprise to get a better
comprehension of how they relate and interact with their vendors (Krajewski & Ritzman, 2005).
Contract relationship tools will help in showing the history of an organization partnership as well
as how it influences the supply chain. Besides, this helps in showing the quality and value that
vendors bring to the process.
