The direction of causality can be determined when 2 variables have what kind of correlation?

Causality can not be determined by correlation. Whether the correlation is positive or negative or exponential or nonexistent, you cannot say that one variable was the cause of a change in another, statistically speaking, you cannot determine the direction of causality.
