I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500. 5.3L 4wd. I am needing to replace the upper and lower ball joints and Inner and Outter Tie Rods. My question is, about how long will this take me if i do it myself. Also, how much would it cost to just have an auto repair shop knock it out for me? If i do this myself, is there anything else i will need to replace while im replacing these items?

Each side should take about an hours each, however, once your done, you will need an alignment. DIY should cast around $100 but if yoy take it to a shop you'll end up paying for parts plus hourly shop rates and that can vary by shop. You should also consider picking up a bushing kit for the control arms and the strut.shock mounts while your under there. Other than that, a visual inspection is recommended. Check break lines and so on just to be on the safe side.
