Anorexia nervosa is a type of psychological disorder that constitutes many deaths in the
United States. The condition mainly affects girls and women (Franko et al., 2013). The condition
is a lethal disease affecting people in professions that demand for slim bodies like athletes in
some games and models. Other factors contributing to the disorder include the people’s culture
like the adornment of women’s beauty. Persons affected by the ailment have symptoms like
vomiting, lack of appetite (no hunger feelings) among others. Since the condition affects mental
capabilities, patients introduce challenges because they tend to reject treatment. This is the case
because treatment facilitates improved food appetites. Therefore, holding the notion that the
affected have food phobia, directing them to eat is only applicable in instances where qualified
nurses are employed.
