Lying Interview Assignment
Humans have been bestowed with both verbal and non-verbal communication skills. But
this essence of communication is distorted due to lies and deception. Today, fraud and trickery
abound in the world. We often consider certain behaviors as tactful or polite, even though they
involve a degree of deception that we accept as justifiable, a part of our normal day-to-day
interaction in interpersonal communication. Lying is one form of verbal deception that has

of reasons. It may be to protect the feelings of others, seek attention, be defensive or vindictive,
obtain unattainable rewards, save face, avoid conflict or tension, guide social interaction,

The interviewees were asked about their most recent lies within the past week. One
