The Cold War was a time of "non-hostile belligerency" largely between the United States
of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). It was a “battle of words”
and rivalry consisting of the Cold War Space Race and Arms Race and comprising of the
nuclear accumulation between the United States of America and its affiliates in the West and
the Communist realm controlled by China in the East and the Union of Soviet Socialist
Republics (USSR). The geneses of the Cold War started at the conclusion of the World War
II. The British and the Americans were afraid of the enduring Soviet control of Eastern
Europe and the danger of Soviet- manipulated communist parties rising to power in the
democracies of Western Europe. Conversely, the Soviets were firm in maintaining
domination of Eastern Europe to protect it from any imminent renewed danger from
Germany and were determined to spread communism globally, primarily for ideological
