There are various leadership approaches that can be used by a leader to achieve success
in an organization. The chosen approach in this module was the situational leadership approach.
This approach as stated earlier is adjusted based on the current situation or environment that the
leader and the followers are in. The leader, therefore, has to choose the leadership style that is
most effective in that situation. This approach is therefore heavily dependent on the motivation
and the willingness of the employees to complete a particular task. The situational leadership
approach, therefore, has a direct impact on the influence that the leader has on his followers
which also impacts the team effectiveness. This essay, therefore, describes how the situational
leadership approach is used to improve the team effectiveness in an organization.

A leader is a person who impacts the culture, values, and goals of an organization. It is,
therefore, the role of the leader to guide all the employees towards achieving a certain set goal.
Following the situational leadership approach, the leaders have the flexibility of choosing the
leadership style that they see fit on all the employees. This approach is a tested approach that has
produced positive results for the most organization. It focuses on four basic leadership styles
which are telling, selling, participating and delegating. Each of these leadership styles is effective
