Introduction

Medicaid is a healthcare program that is provided for people whose income is limited.
The program is run jointly by the state and the federal government. The program has been
able to provide those enrolled in it with free or low-cost health coverage to many Americans
with limited incomes. Some of the funding that is used by Medicaid is provided by the
federal government which also gives the guiding principles on how the funds should be used
(Garfield et al., 2016). Each of the states has a different way in which they approach the
program with some having different factors that affect the eligibility of an individual when
they are applying to be enrolled in the program. Some of the factors that affect eligibility are
household income, the size of the family, the presence of any disability and many others. In
order for one to also qualify they must either be US citizens, a US national or have evidence
of being a permanent resident.
There are several benefits that a person who is enrolled on Medicaid receive as
opposed to those who are enrolled in Medicare. A person who is enrolled in Medicaid gets
