Skinner's learning theory explains the behavior of Jennifer in that the theory stipulates
that learning is a subject of change in overt of a behavior. A change in the conduct of an
individual occurs due to response to the event that is within the environment. In this case, the
response is Jennifer brushing 100 strokes. An individual responds to stimuli in case there is a
reward. For the case of Jennifer, the reward is her mother putting a gold star on the calendar. In
this theory the major element in the reinforcement tor a reward as it strengthens the desired
response. In this case, the reward is the gold star being put on the calendar by Jennifer's mother.
The reinforcement can either be verbal praise, satisfaction or even a good grade among others
(Harasim, 2017, 98). However, the support may also be negative punishment, but this tends to
reduce the chances of having a response.
