Running head: SERVICE TO OLD AGE 1 Unit 3: Assignment 1 Stacey Tekansik HS5514 Capella University Dr. David Witt January 27, 2018 SERVICE TO OLD AGE 2 A service is said to be any physical transaction that is offered to a person. It could be at a cost or free depending on the agreement between the person offering the service and the receiver or in other cases between the buyer and the seller. The older people have grown vulnerable to most of the health problems, lack of basic needs, lack of defense and resources. Some of the old aged are homeless for example, a larger population in Britain, while others are highly exposed to threats, or instance those in Indonesia. This Research aims at giving a detailed framework on the different types of services offered to older adults, types of resources used, the population type, technology used and lastly compares the programs and interventions that are given to the diverse populations. There are different types of services that are offered to the aged such as acute hospital services, community services and residential services (Robert, 1996). The acute hospital services help the aged in that our hospitals have a well-planned and organized out patient, inpatient care, maternity and diagnostic services for the aged. The community services are offered through The Community Healthcare Organizations. They include the family doctors, public health services, Physiotherapists and speech and language therapists. About residential services, the aged are given home day care services and home care packages. The resources could either be profit based or nonprofit based, public or private. The acute hospital services are profit based since for instance in an inpatient case the family members are involved in paying for the patients bills before he or she is released from the hospital. The community services are public and nonprofit based services that are offered by government organizations while the residential services are nonprofit based public services in which the organization involved voluntary offers care and funds to support the services (Raynes et al., 2005). SERVICE TO OLD AGE 3 The aging populations mostly increase in most of the developing nations. The biggest challenge in these nations is whether the population will be given enough support in terms of improved health, improving quality of life, and both social and economic resources. For instance in Britain the main language used is English, although there are other languages used such as, Welsh, Cornish and Scots. According to the analyses of the local services offered, the services are good in terms of quantity since the government is giving financial support, pensions and support for the aged whereby those above sixty five years of age are entitled to some amount of money on monthly basis (Robert, 1996). Different areas in the world differ in terms of the services they offer to the aged since the population size and the financial support is different. The constitutional rules touching the age are also different in most of the nations. In analyzing the epidemiological data, the mortality and morbidity rate, basically the mortality rate is low apart from the few aged people who are dying as a result of obesity. There are challenges in giving definite figure because of the few challenges and issues in analyzing the epidemiological data. The challenges and issues are unique regarding the search, critical analysis and summary of the data and hence it has been difficult for most of the populations to come up with exact figures. Services are necessary for aged especially in terms of hospital care, residence and community resources. The aged no longer have the energy to work and provide for their basics. Therefore the nation has to come up with ways of reaching them, taking care of them through governmental or non-governmental organizations.
