Rather than hoping conflict will go away, this paper will explore and identify the reasons for conflict and how to successfully address them in a team environment.

Conflicts within an organization or in a team occur due to many and varying reasons that
synonymous with human social interaction. These impending disputes cannot be avoided at
whatever cost, though they can be minimized or addressed amicably to avoid them spilling over
and affecting the working environment. Human beings are social beings whose interactions is
hinged on the definitive social elements that promote ethical behavior and correct negative traits
to attain a near-perfect society (Midgley, 2002). As such, organizations are social platforms that
play out human interactions in their most natural manner as worker mates come from diverse
background and must learn to accommodate each other. This “accommodation” of each other
cannot happen without conflicts that allow each member to determine their space, their scope,
and their limitations in dealing with other people. It is an automatic system that allows human
beings to find an equilibrium in dealing with their fellow beings and guides them to due
performance when in front of others.
The most common kind of conflict within an organization or in a team involves that of
relating with each other and understanding how to accommodate each other’s shortcomings. The
fact that in a workplace, each person hails from a different society upholding different value
systems. More so, each person has their personality that has guided them to being accepted in the
community and which defines how they relate to other people. Interaction redefines rank within
a group, and when such a social ranking system does not augur well with some individuals, it
always leads to conflict. In an organization or a team, there is a need to have a social system that
prevails beyond the structural organizational system and empowers the group to find importance
