For the past ten years, the HR department has embraced changes to try to keep up with
the changing work environments and the trends of organizations. This can also be attributed to
technology advancement that tends to do most of the work that used to be done manually by HR
personnel. These include automatic payrolls, ease in recruiting process, talent management
which evaluate if the employees are getting the right training opportunities that facilitate
achievement of goals of a company. HR used to focus mainly on personnel management and
administrative tasks but currently, they put more emphasis on management of employees and
strengthening work culture. HR professionals are expected to provide helpful services to the firm
which will increase the morale of the team and thus improve productivity.
Most employees are currently not engaged in the activities of the organization. This
means that most employees don't love their jobs and thus they are not willing to put more effort.
Employees who are engaged are happy and productive. They are willing to take extra shifts so as
to improve the quality of work and thus make the business more successful. Most employees
enjoy the company of their coworkers rather than the actual job. The HR department should be in
a position to ensure that employee engagement is put into consideration which will help in strong
and meaningful relationships with the customers. It will also improve the strength of the team
and thus the working environment will also become better.
In the past, Human Resource (HR) managers experimented with the use of metrics to
calculate the impact and cost of programs in the workforce and the initiatives of the human
resource yet very few HR managers have background in analysis of data. Currently, HR
managers with a background in data skills are considered more effective in organizations since

most of their work revolved around workforce data. In 2015, a report from Deloitte confirmed
that 9% of the respondents reported that the organizations they worked in had a strong team
which could deal with data analysis within HR (Milligan, 2017). 32% said that their
organizations were ready to start using predictive analysis. Use of data to assess and improve
recruitment, safety to succession and health strategies is now the most changing trend in HR in
