AT LEAST 200 WORDS FOR EACH ANSWER, CITE ANY REFERENCES USED, NO PLAGIARISM
1. Various comparisons are stated in the text and the lecture material between Butterworth and Chebyshev Type I IIR filters. What sort of criteria do you think should be used in deciding which type of filter to use?
2. Coefficient quantization has been demonstrated to have a significant effect on the processing of digital IIR filters. How do you think the introduction of feedback terms in IIR filters is affected by quantization, and is it more or less critical than the effect upon FIR filters? Include in your answer any differences or comparisons you have noticed between the aky[n-k] filter coefficients and the bkx[n-k] filter coefficients.
3. What is the difference between a single-phase and a three-phase ac signal?

Question 1
In most cases, the most basic deciding factor when choosing the type of filter between
Butterworth and Chebyshev is the quality of chosen filter to deal with ripple in the passband and
a filter with a sharper roll – off. Butterworth filters are generally flat which means signals of say,
1/2fc and 1/3 fc will generate same amplifications which will be able to penetrate through the
filters without any attenuation. Because Chebyshev filters have high quality and sharper
frequency cut-off, they can incorporate an equal ripple passband which minimizes the designed
difference between the ideal and actual frequency response over the entire passband.
Also, when the main aim of filter set up is to help eliminate the surrounding noise without
altering the readings on the sensor too much the ...
