Hurricanes are natural disasters which happen in the coastal regions. They can extend
into the mainland at times depending on their strength. These disasters have the ability to cause
huge damages which are hard to recover. There have been reported deaths of people who were
caught on the wrong side by the hurricane. Property damage amounting to millions and billions
of dollars are always reported after almost every occurrence. Therefore, the situation is usually a
disturbing and devastating experience for every person residing or working along the coastal
shores. Hurricanes occur after several years forming a pattern which might be predictable or not
depending on the causative agents.
Various companies and firms which have been set along the coastal regions face a
challenging disaster whenever the issue of hurricanes comes up. These firms have to invest a lot
of finances to purchase various assets which can withstand the strength of a hurricane. Their
structures are also built in a way that little damage can be realized whenever a hurricane hits
(API, 2017). This gives the management a hard time in securing the assets and hoping that they
withstand the forces appropriately. An oil plant risks causing heavy damage to the nearby
regions due to issues such as fires and explosions. Therefore, the structures have to be firm
enough to prevent such situations.
