1. Five types of tissue and their functions in the body
The epithelial tissue covers the surface of the body and the lining of internal cavities. The
main functions of this tissue are secretion, protection, absorption, and filtration. It protects the
body from bacteria, dust, and microbes that may be harmful to the body. The cells are either flat
to cubic, or thin.
The connective tissue is abundantly distributed in the body. It is necessary for protection
and support for the body. The connective tissues include dense fibrous tissue, cartilage, blood,
lymph, and bone. All these comprise the connective tissue. They help connect various limbs
together while protecting the health of these limbs.

Muscular tissue includes cardiac, smooth, and skeletal. The skeletal muscle is a muscle
tissue that helps in the contraction of various skeletal parts. The smooth muscles are often
distributed inside the walls of blood vessels and internal organs and are involuntary muscles.
Cardiac muscles are involuntary muscle found in the walls of the heart.
The nerve tissue has specialized cells that both conduct impulses and receives stimuli to
and from every part of the human body. These neurons or nerve cells tend to be string like and
long.
The simplest combination of all tissues is called a membrane. These are a sheet of tissues
that help divide organs into parts and cover that body surface. For instance, the mucous
membrane helps line the body surface. Essentially, the tissues combine and form organs. The
organs also help in a certain function in the body. The organs then form a system, which helps
the body function as a whole.
3- Describe all the structures that blood passes through as it travels between the
aorta and the vena cava.
Blood enters the heart through the superior and inferior vena cava and empties the
oxygen-poor blood procured from the body to the right atrium. When the right atrium contracts,
it helps convey blood from the right atrium to the right ventricle via an open tricuspid valve.
Once the ventricle fills, the valve shuts preventing blood from flowing in the opposite direction.
The blood then leaves the heart through the pulmonic valve to the pulmonary artery then to the
lungs for oxygenation.
