Introduction
Statistical process control (SPC) defines a control process deployed in manufacturing in
order to increase the production quality. In this respect, enterprises are becoming more reliant on
SPC since it cuts down substantial amount of time and tows down labor-intensive procedures
thus reducing human error. The nature and complexity of software has substantially varied over
the years. With easy availability of computer power, deeper and broader applications are being
established. As such, it’s exceptionally essential to develop high-quality applications with good
precession of reliability and efficiency (Qiu, 2013). Normally, to develop a reliable and good
quality software while at the same time keeping a specific time schedule poses a big challenge.
As a result, methodologies and advanced concepts continue to be made in order to cope with
these challenges. This paper uses SPC control charts to monitor computer software anomalies in
order to improve production quality.
Monitoring and fixing defects
Software reliability illustrates the chance the a computer application will be able to meet
its purpose as required without experiencing defects within a specified time period and stated
environment. As such, SPC control charts aims at enhancing this chance as possible. To realize
this, one has to monitor the software reliability using analytical models for which parameters are
estimated for the available data on software defects. Notably, the parameters for reliability are
