Why does there seem to be so much violence in the Old Testament?
Given the nature that God is holy, in the Old Testament, He punished sinful tribes by
having the Israelites go to war with these tribes and the Israelites would emerge victorious and
vice versa when the Israelites engaged in sins and idolatry. The violence in the Old Testament is
depicted as a way for God to punish sin and immorality.
What is the difference between killing and murder?
Killing is the deliberate unpremeditated act of causing death while murder is the
premeditated and deliberate act of causing death.
Why is Joshua's encounter with sons of Anak important?
Joshua's encounter with the Sons of Anak was important especially for the Israelites as it
reminded them of the odds they had persevered and faced to get to the Promised Land and God
kept His promise of giving the Israelites the Promised Land (Chattaway, 1994).
Why I agree with professor stone's explanation for the many instances of violence in the

Yes I agree with Professor Stone's explanation for the many instances of war and
violence in the book of Joshua and Judges. The reason I agree with Professor Stone is because,
his explanation of the instances of war and violence are well documented in the Bible in the
books of Joshua and Judges. For example, he states that the instances of war and violence during
the time of Joshua, the war, and violence Joshua spearheaded was holy and a direct command
