Fluid Imbalances
Fluid balance is a homeostatic process in the human body that regulates the amount of
water in the bloodstream. The primary goal of fluid balance is ensuring that the amount of water
lost from the body equals the amount of water taken in. Fluid balance in the human body is
achieved through osmoregulation and behavioral tendencies aimed at ensuring that the
concentration of electrolytes in various body fluids are kept within a healthy range (Lee, 2010).
Electrolytes are electrically charged minerals in human body fluids. The electrolytes have to be
