Brokering Peace in the Middle East
The Middle East has been characterized by incessant wars among the different countries
and the citizens within the nations. Currently, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a threat to not
only the Middle East but to other world’s nations in Europe especially the United States. Instead
of concentrating on national and regional growth and development the Middle East countries are
constantly revolving around post-war transitions, tranquility discussions and restoration. Efforts
from foreign brigades to broker peace in the region have failed constantly. Arranging and
managing conflict resolution has and is the main challenge. Thus, building and maintaining
public relations among the citizens and between the nations is the only way to improve peace in
the Middle East.
The security situation in the Middle East is dire and for a number of reasons. Most of the
Middle East countries still uphold autocratic and absolute monarchical systems of government,
with only a few having progressed to parliamentary democracy. Some of the subjects in the
autocratic and monarchical governments such as Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Yemen
are unhappy with the regimes. As such, these nations have been forced to endure political
uprisings pushing for changes within the political system of government (Halpern, 2015). Other
nations have and are facing challenges of in-family fights in the process of transitioning power.
Besides, some of the nations are currently under interim governments whose power is limited to
the control of their armies. In addition, those countries that have successfully instituted
parliamentary democracy, in consideration of their own gains, have and are supporting rebels
from their neighboring nations.
